Travel by air
Nuremberg airport (IATA: NUE)
Erlangen may be reached most easily via the nearby Nuremberg airport (ca. 15 km). To go to Erlangen, take the subway line U2 which leads directly to the Nuremberg main railroad station ("Hauptbahnhof") within 12 minutes. Subway trains depart every 10 minutes during daytime hours. Trains to Erlangen depart from the main railroad station of Nuremberg about every 20-30 minutes. Taxis from the airport to Erlangen cost about EUR 25.
Munich airport (IATA: MUC)
This airport is approx. 160 km south of Erlangen. Train connections to Erlangen are via the "S-Bahn" (S1, S8)
to Munich central station, and then to Erlangen via Nuremberg.
This takes about 3 hours. Renting a car is faster; it takes about 1.5 hours.
Frankfurt airport (IATA: FRA)
The airport of Frankfurt is approx. 240 km north-west of Erlangen. There are trains directly from the airport of Frankfurt to Nuremberg. In Fürth or Nuremberg you have to change the train to Erlangen. This takes about 3 hours.
Travel by train
Erlangen may be reached by "Intercity" lines of the "Deutsche Bahn" or trains of the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg. In front of the central station in Erlangen you will find taxi ranks. The ride will take approx. 5-10 min.
As an alternative, the bus will start from the Hugenottenplatz (line 294) towards Sieglitzhof. Leave the bus at the stage "Schellingstraße" after 5-10 min; the IZMP is opposite to the bus stop.
The third option would be to walk from the station to IZMP which takes about 20 minutes.
Travel by car
Erlangen may be reached easily via the Autobahn A73. This connects to the A9 from Berlin, the A9 from Munich, or the A3 from Frankfurt. On the Autobahn A73, take the exit "Erlangen-Zentrum". Now follow the street "Werner-von-Siemens" about 1 km until you reach the crossroad Werner-von-Siemens-Straße/Henkestraße.
Turn right and follow the Henkestraße for 100 m. Go straight over the next crossroad Henkestraße/Gebbertstraße. After 50 m turn left into the Karlheinz-Kaske-Straße.
Parking places are on the left-hand side behind the gate. At the gate ring the bell for Molecular Networks to get access.
